Uganda is in East Africa and is a magical country full of surprises and possibilities. Voted number 1 Tourist Destination by the Lonely Planet Guide Book in 2011, Uganda is a must on anyone’s wish list.
The Ugandan people are welcoming and friendly, the weather fabulous and the safari possibilities endless.
Savannah and Rainforest
One of Uganda’s biggest attractions is the diversity of habitats and environments, it is incredible to wake up one morning with the excitement of trekking through the rainforest in search of chimpanzees and then that same afternoon be able to drive for 3 hours and reach open savannah wilderness.
Lions, leopards, elephants, buffalo, hippos and many many different antelope species all roam these grasslands and if you are a bird lover then Uganda is renowned for being one of the best countries in Africa for bird life.
It has numerous endemic species, both to the country and the Albertine Rift Valley as well as rare and endangered birds, such as the Shoebill.
Once in a Life Time
The highlight of many a visitor’s trip to Uganda is a visit to the endangered mountain gorillas in Bwindi Forest National Park.
This is a once in a lifetime event and although the goose bumps will disappear the memory of standing metres away from these mighty apes will never fade.
Uganda is swamped with culture and traditions. It is also moulded by its history and past politics and troubles. But present day Uganda is a stable and safe tourist destination.
